CHASCo September 2021 Membership Meeting
Please join us for our Membership Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 22, 2021. This meeting will take place by Zoom and is scheduled for 11:00am to 1:00pm Central Time. CHASCo members are encouraged to share this invitation with colleagues who may be interested, including student affairs professionals, counselors, compliance officers, administrators, etc. All are welcome to join us. Professional Development: Supporting Student Mental Health: Trends, Strategies & Resources
Session Description: Dr. Nance Roy serves as the Chief Clinical Officer of the Jed Foundation. She will be joining us to discuss JED’s POV on Campus Mental Health and Well-being in Fall 2021 Reopening. Dr. Roy will share resources and strategies for addressing social connectedness and providing substance abuse and mental health services. The presentation will also focus on the importance of supporting student mental health through an equitable implementation lens which ensures that the needs of students who are potentially marginalized and/or underserved due to societal and structural inequities and school-specific community demographics are considered deliberately and intentionally.
Dr. Nance Roy: Dr. Roy serves as the Chief Clinical Office of the Jed Foundation and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale School of Medicine, Dept. of Psychiatry. She has over 20 years of experience as a psychologist working in college mental health. She served as the Assistant Dean of Health and Wellness at Sarah Lawrence College and most recently was the Associate Dean of Health and Wellness at Rhode Island School of Design. Publications have focused on effective strategies for promoting emotional well-being among teens and young adults as well as treatment and management of at-risk students on college campuses. She has been actively involved in strategic planning initiatives focusing on a holistic approach to education, crisis management and a public health model for delivery of care in high schools and on college campuses. Dr Roy is a senior advisor for the National College Depression Partnership, serves on the Mental Health Task Force for the Ruderman Foundation and has worked on mental health initiatives with the Surgeon General, the Higher Education Mental Health Alliance, the Department of Defense, The Veteran’s Administration, the Milken Institute, the Clinton Health Matters Initiative and college and university systems across the country.

CHASCo April 2024 Membership Meeting
Hello CHASCo Members, The annual Baxter Award recognizes the extraordinary contributions of CHASCo members who have gone above and beyond their everyday work to achieve excellence in higher education prevention programming. We are currently taking nominations for this award. Submit your nominations here by April 5, 2024. We have just extended the deadline to allow for additional submissions. Please note that all decisions and deliberations will be completed by the CHASCo Executive Committee. CHASCo staff is not involved in the decision-making process. Our executive committee will use a scoring system to evaluate the nominees on criteria including how the candidates have gone above and beyond to address the prevention of substance use, suicide, sexual or interpersonal violence, and related prevention issues; and their success at fostering cross-campus collaboration at the local, state, and/or national level.
