Professional Development: Let's Talk About Cannabis: Trends, Risks, & Prevention

With the legalization of cannabis products across the country, more and more marijuana derivatives—like CBD—are popping up in products from vapes and e-cigarettes to wellness products like lotions. The latest cannabis compound to surge in popularity is Delta-8. Kristina Clark with KM Clarke Consulting will join us to talk about trends, risks and prevention efforts that are taking place across the state. We will also share tools and resources specific to addressing cannabis in a higher education setting.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about cannabis products including Delta 8 and its chemical make up and effects on the body
  • Examine the wide variety of products available and how they are ingested
  • Discuss how to engage their coalition members in assessing the local landscape
  • Explore strategies to address local conditions

By Kayce Matthews 18 Mar, 2024
Hello CHASCo Members, The annual Baxter Award recognizes the extraordinary contributions of CHASCo members who have gone above and beyond their everyday work to achieve excellence in higher education prevention programming. We are currently taking nominations for this award. Submit your nominations here by April 5, 2024. We have just extended the deadline to allow for additional submissions. Please note that all decisions and deliberations will be completed by the CHASCo Executive Committee. CHASCo staff is not involved in the decision-making process. Our executive committee will use a scoring system to evaluate the nominees on criteria including how the candidates have gone above and beyond to address the prevention of substance use, suicide, sexual or interpersonal violence, and related prevention issues; and their success at fostering cross-campus collaboration at the local, state, and/or national level. Best, Kayce
