Addressing the Intersections of HIV, Substance Use, and Mental Health on Campus

Program Description: This program will provide an overview of the intersections of HIV, substance use and mental health among college students. Participants will learn the importance of using a harm reduction framework to meet students where they are in addressing those intersections, as well as evidence-informed interventions and best practices to improve health equity.
Blake Flaugher: Beginning his career as an HIV Prevention Specialist—a role in which he conducted outreach, education and HIV testing throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky for five years — Blake Flaugher transitioned to the college health field in 2016. He worked as the Sexual Health Education Coordinator at University of Kentucky before moving to his current role as the Sexual Well-Being Health Promotion Specialist at University of California, Davis. He served as Chair of ACHA's Sexual Health Coalition from August 2019 to June 2021, and continues to remain involved.
