We are a collection of higher education professionals who address health and safety issues on our various campuses. We represent both private and public colleges and universities in the state of Tennessee.

CHASCo’s Mission:

 

Connect and support institutions of higher education in Tennessee to address campus health and safety issues. We do this by providing : professional development & networking opportunities, assessment tools, resources and funding for evidence -based programming, & research on prevention best-practices

KAYCE MATTHEWS

Director, Coalition for Healthy and Safe Campus Communities (CHASCo) 

Kayce Matthews joined TICUA/CHASCo in January 2017 with over 10 years of experience in prevention and advocacy work. Before joining CHASCo, Kayce worked for the TN Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. In this role, she founded both the TN Campus Prevention Project and the TN Statewide Sexual Assault Prevention Committee. Previous to the TN Coalition, she served as the Associate Director of the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center at Vanderbilt University. She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Trevecca University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Stephens College, and is an AASECT certified sexuality educator. Most importantly, Kayce is the proud mother to two very feisty little boys who inspire her to do better every single day.

ROSA CANTU, MPH

Program Coordinator, Coalition for Healthy & Safe Campus Communities (CHASCo)

Rosa Cantu received her Bachelor of Psychology and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). She has an extensive background in program planning and implementation through her most recent experience in COVID emergency response as the Contact Tracing Coordinator for UTC. Before this role, she served as Education Coordinator for the Education Initiatives Department at United Way of Greater Chattanooga. In her spare time, Rosa volunteers through Lions Clubs International and Remote Area Medical Clinic, working with people experiencing blindness and needing medical care. She also advocates for childhood lead poisoning prevention in the Chattanooga Southside community.
