Prevention Spotlight: Austin Peay State University
This week's Prevention Spotlight is Austin Peay State University! Below is a description of their Project Intersection activities.
Austin Peay State University Project Description: Health and Counseling Services utilized project support and funding to elevate the conversation surrounding healthy relationships and sexual assault at Austin Peay State University, specifically through three campus programs. The first was a semester-long initiative where students meet weekly as a group with counselors to share experiences and similar difficulties in an effort to promote interpersonal relationship skills, improve communication skills, develop self-awareness and demonstrate the importance of setting boundaries. Additional initiatives included a tabling event the week of Valentine's to engage students on the importance of healthy relationships, and collaboration with campus stakeholders to train students in leading class presentation on healthy relationships and sexual assault prevention. Healthy relationship banner pens and relationship pocket journals were purchased and distributed at each event. Both were a big hit with our students!
