Social Norms Marketing Training
~ April 1-2, 2009 ~


CHASCo, through the generous support of the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services (DADAS) is once again brining Dr. Wes Perkins to Tennessee to provide two levels of social norms training to CHASCo members.

Agenda: 

April 1~ Level 1 Training (open to all Cohort 2 institutions) 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
April 2 ~ Level 2 Training (open to only Cohort 1 institutions) 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Training Focus:

Level 1 Training (April 1)

  1. Basics of social norms marketing and theory-supporting model
  2. Applications of model
  3. Strategies used by campuses
  4. Detailed examples of applying social norms in the following areas/methods:
    1. Media campaigns
    2. Peer-Educator/Resident Assistant Training
  5. Understanding the campus context as it relates to social norms marketing
  6. Advantages and disadvantages of using CORE survey data to drive messages
  7. How to use CORE survey data to inform messages
  8. Assessment strategies for measuring effectiveness

 Level 2 Training (April 2)

 

  1. Evaluation of fall 2008 social norms marketing campaigns
  2. Lessons learned through strategies used by campuses in fall 2008Detailed examples of applying social norms in the following areas/methods:
    1. Curriculum infusion
    2. Target populations (ex. athletes, Greeks, etc.)
  1. Further understanding of the campus context as it relates to social norms marketing
  2. Assessment strategies for measuring effectiveness

Lodging:
Embassy Suites

Lodging for this conference will be located at Embassy Suites, in Nashville and provided on April 2.  If you check that you need lodging when you register, CHASCo will reserve your room at the Embassy Suites for you.  Please note that you are responsible for parking and any incidentals you incur at the hotel.  A shuttle will be available to take you to and from the ScarrittBennettCenter for the conference or you can walk the three blocks to the conference center.
